The result is IT that just works – when, where, and how you want it.

Gary Tonniges Jr, CPA, founded the company in 1997 and serves as its CEO. He graduated with an accounting degree from Texas A&M, earned his Certified Public Accounting license, attained an Executive MBA from TCU, and maintains numerous technical certifications. His wife, Cyndy Tonniges, graduated from Texas A&M with a Business Analysis degree. She maintains her Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR), Myers-Briggs (MBTI) and Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation (FIRO) certifications. She leads the company’s Marketing and Membership departments.

Gary’s goal from the beginning was to deliver service that’s consistently greater than the sum of its parts. Also known as “The TriQuest Way,” this focus provides every customer with the competitive advantage of having reliable, responsible, right-sized IT that can grow, change, and adapt as their business evolves.

From Working As An Auditor In A CPA Firm To Owning Fort Worth’s Premier IT Solutions Provider

Gary Couldn’t Accept “Gremlins” As An Answer

Anyone meeting Gary over three decades ago would never have believed he would someday lead Fort Worth’s most respected, outstanding IT Services firm. After graduating from Texas A&M University, Gary joined a small Fort Worth CPA firm with the dream of attaining his CPA license, growing his career, and becoming a partner. The firm had three partners, a secretary, and a bookkeeper when Gary joined Hartman, Walton & Leito. Five years later, HWL had grown to over 100 employees and added another partner.

Gary’s plans took a detour from accounting to technology, thanks to a pair of technicians who his firm hired to keep their computers and network running. Whenever there was a technology incident, one of the partners would say, “Time to call Frick and Frack,” who would then arrive with a large silver briefcase jammed full of cables, discs, and other random parts.

After fixing the problem, when asked what caused the issue, the response from Frick and Frack was always the same: “Oh, the computer gremlins gotcha.” Gary knew this answer was counter to a CPA’s distinctive ethical code. And, because he had a passion and burgeoning expertise with computers, he volunteered to discover exactly what “Frick and Frack” meant by “gremlins.”

Thus began his quest to apply the business acumen and integrity of the CPA profession to information technology so clients could have a trusted IT partner they could count on over time. Not every business leader needs to fully understand technology, but they all want to use it to optimize business operations more safely and securely. Within a couple years, “Frick and Frack” were gone and the savvy partners realized their clients had similar tech issues, so they created a new IT services group. They put Gary in charge of this group, with full P&L responsibilities, to assist clients with their technology issues.

His division designed computer networks to run accounting systems, automate manual processes, and provide user education. Gary quickly recognized the challenges inherent in an accounting firm trying to build a side business in selling IT services.

Where Did “TriQuest” Come From?

Soon after Gary’s realization that clients needing IT support were not calling an accounting firm for help, Gary and Cyndy were backpacking the Maroon Bells 26-mile loop outside Aspen, Colorado. After waking up the first morning with a view of a crystal-clear mountain lake at 14,000 feet, the idea crystalized in Gary’s mind: he would start his own IT services and technology support company. Taking several customers, Gary left the accounting firm with Cyndy’s support, the partners’ blessing, and his division’s two employees. The name “TriQuest” was derived from the three daily standards of operational excellence and the team of three starting a new adventure, or quest. “Technologies” was added to identify the industry.

The TriQuest Technologies Mission Statement

Our Knowledgeable Team Provides Exceptional IT Services

TriQuest’s 3 Daily Standards Of Operational Excellence

A customer’s ongoing success is based on TriQuest’s company-wide dedication to our three daily standards of operational excellence:

  • Teamwork
  • Learning
  • Planning

We refer to our office as the Clubhouse because it was designed to foster Teamwork and create an environment where all perspectives are welcome, and the best idea wins – ensuring our customers benefit by experiencing optimal solutions built upon reliable, secure technology.

To keep pace with our fast-changing industry, we prioritize continuous Learning, or CPE (continuing professional education). Every member of the TriQuest team annually invests over 200 working hours in professional learning and technical skills development. Our in-house Learning Center hosts regular educational events and includes a fully developed IT training lab and workroom to ensure technical skills and vendor certifications are kept leading-edge. This enables us to deliver up-to-date technical support to our customers.

When TriQuest started in 1997, computers barely supported multimedia, files were on isolated machines or on primitive local area networks, and the Internet was practically nonexistent. Today everything’s connected – security systems to telephones to HVAC controls to electronic data and all things in between. Making certain that everything works together – reliably, effectively, and securely – requires careful Planning.

So, whether we are helping Performing Arts Fort Worth/Bass Performance Hall provide exceptional experiences for hearing-impaired audience members; ensuring the lot-tracking systems used by Renfro Foods, Inc., are powerful, secure, and state-of-the-art; or providing secure systems for the Walton Group employees to work from home while keeping client data secure, TriQuest always keeps planning front and center.

These three daily standards of operational excellence – Teamwork, Learning, Planning – enable TriQuest to provide the same level of high-quality service to every customer, big or small. We customize IT solutions for your business by working together and using proven technology systems – building reliability and security into every layer of your IT system. TriQuest delivers reliable IT solutions: IT that just works – when, where, and how you want it.
